The Workforce Development System is the total of all public and private investments and activities undertaken to insure that all individuals are both employable and have jobs while simultaneously ensuring that companies can achieve the skilled workforce they need to be successful in the world marketplace. The purpose of this system is to support the growth of the local economy by meeting the employment needs of individuals and business.

New York State Department of Labor
Also located at the Professional Academic Center on the campus of Columbia Greene Community College is a New York State Department of Labor office. The office offers many DOL programs and services to businesses and job seekers including employment assistance, labor research and statistics, apprenticeship programs, and labor law information. Columbia Greene Community College
Columbia Greene Community College provides a growing local labor pool by offering technical training on many levels.
